Where is your kiln?
My kiln is situated in my studio, at WASPS Art Studios, Riverside House, Edinburgh.
How much space do I get?
My kiln is a SMALL Nabertherm Top 45/L Pottery Kiln. The internal shelf space is 340mm tall x 350mm wide. This equates to roughly 20 standard mugs.
What can I fire?
I have experience firing stoneware and earthenware.
My firing programmes are:
950ºC Bisque Fire
1050ºC Earthenware Glaze Fire
1235ºC Stoneware Glaze Fire

Use of Kiln at Customer’s Risk
Customers renting space in the kiln do so at their own risk. Martha Duncan Studio accepts no responsibility for any damage to, or loss of, customer work resulting from kiln malfunction, firing errors, unsuitable materials, glaze issues, overfiring, underfiring, or any other factors beyond our reasonable control.
Responsibility for Materials
It is the customer’s sole responsibility to ensure that all materials used—such as clay bodies, glazes, and other substances—are suitable for the intended firing temperature and compatible with our kiln processes. Martha Duncan Studio reserves the right to refuse any item that is deemed unsafe or inappropriate for firing.
Limitation of Liability
Under no circumstances shall Martha Duncan Studio, its owners, staff, or representatives be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage, including but not limited to the loss or destruction of artwork or personal property placed in the kiln.
